Eastern Nazarene College, or ENC for short, is a Christian college of the liberal arts and sciences in Quincy, which is a city in Norfolk County, in the US state of Massachusetts, with over 91 000 people (2009), living within its limits, fact which makes it the eighth largest city in the state.
ENC dates since September, 1900, and began being known under its current name in June, 1918. The college is today known for excellence in science and religion education and for a distinctive liberal arts core curriculum, primarily offering its students undergraduate academic programs, also offering some professional graduate education.
ENC's athletic teams are known as the Lions and they compete in NCAA Division III, The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC), and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), for various varsity sports. Their distinctive colors are red and white, and their mascot is, obviously, the Lion.
Among the noteworthy people, who studied at Eastern Nazarene College, there are also: John S. Rigden - world-renowned physicist, Eldon C. Hall - lead design engineer of the Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) at MIT, Neil Nicoll - President & CEO of the YMCA, Jim Tabor - Vice President for Operations at AirTran Airways, and Wyclef Jean, who attended ENC briefly.
